Construction & Infrastructure Law
Control the project baseline, variations, notices and handover record before disputes grow.
Fix the project baseline
Put the signed scope, drawings, program, site access plan and payment terms in one controlled file. Record which version governs and who may approve changes. A schedule has little value if access, permits or design release do not match the plan. Check the contract's notice route with the people who will need to use it on site.
Record variations and delay as they happen
Log instructions, requests, approvals, quantities, photographs and likely cost or time effects when the work changes. Separate an employer instruction, supplier issue, access problem and overlapping cause of delay rather than assigning fault from a final invoice. Preserve the contemporaneous program, dated correspondence and evidence of when a notice was sent.
Completion is a sequence
Testing, snagging, handover documents, retention, warranties and later maintenance should have named owners and deadlines. A certificate or payment does not automatically answer every open defect or variation. Review subcontracts and insurance alongside the main agreement so a party dealing with a loss has the records needed to notify and assess it. The actual project's jurisdiction and contract set the applicable duties.
