Labor & Employment Law in Egypt
Labor and employment legal work in Egypt, handled by the firm's Cairo branch.
Labor and employment work in Egypt
Our Cairo branch advises employers and employees on Egyptian labor law: employment contracts, probation and fixed-term arrangements, workplace policies, disciplinary steps, terminations and end-of-service entitlements, and the review of existing contracts and staff handbooks against the new law.
Egypt's labor law framework
Employment relationships covered by the Labour Law are governed by Law No. 14 of 2025, published in the Official Gazette on 3 May 2025. It entered into force on 1 September 2025 and replaced Law No. 12 of 2003; its provisions on labour courts apply from 1 October 2025. The law has 298 articles in five books, and the minister responsible for labor issues the implementing decisions. Which provisions apply to a worker depends on the sector, the contract and its dates, so each matter is checked against its own facts.
Contracts, termination and disputes
The 2025 law provides for specialised labour courts, and it gives an end-of-service gratuity where an employer ends a fixed-term contract early. Before a notice or dismissal we check the contract type, the reason relied on, the procedure followed and the dates, because these decide what an employee can claim and what an employer must be able to show. Where a claim is likely, our Cairo branch prepares the file and the chronology first.
